I'm currently about to draft in a big money league and have the "luxury" of being the 1st overall pick. If you were picking first overall in a 14-team mixed league that uses 6 categories (includes OBP), who would you take, and why?
Candidates:
Albert Pujols
Hanley Ramirez
Joe Mauer
Chase Utley
Ryan Braun
Tim Lincecum (although I would never personally take a pitcher 1st overall - I was bitten by Mark Prior way back when...)
I'll give my probable selection after I hear back from some owners....

to me it comes down to the usual two: Ramirez and Pujols
the deciding factor for me this year is that, with Ramirez probably hitting out of the 3 hole, his SBs will be down, moving him behind Pujols.

Ramirez. Pujols will be caught on roids this year. I was thinking the same thing.....the list!!! I went with Han Ram for other reasons though, here they are along with the Roids issue: 1- he's younger (26) while Al's going over 30 now; 2- Hanley hasn't peaked, Al has; 3- Hanley has 5 tools, Al has 4.5 4- Albert had surgery on his elbow in October and it will bark louder as he gets older; 5- There are 18 first basemen in the top 100 fantasy points players, and only 6 SS.... So most importantly, SS is by far the weakest position in the draft along with Catcher. My order was Han Ram, Mauer, then Albert. I hope it works out and that my prediction of Han Ram netting 40 HRs and 30 SBs at some point in his career comes true. Thanks for the input though - from what I read on different sites it's pretty much 50/50 |

You made the correct choice. And this is from a longtime fan of Pujols. I am a huge Twins fan but guess the only jersey I own....that's right....Pujols.
