Emailed the Cubs and Mets to let them know the draft started - hadn't seen them in a while.

he wouldnt have lasted past me...now im screwed I think most teams had a man crush on Gonzo, especially if he is eventually traded out of SD....maybe to BOS? Wow.....home runs galore! I talked with Rockies (Joe) about this with the first overall pick. Just don't know how you pass on a guy who is an annual MVP award winner and can carry your offense in a single week. Anyone, without budget problems, take Gonzo over Pujols?

I have had a man crush on Pujols (only non-Twins baseball player who I have ever owned a jersey of) ever since his minor league days so I could not have passed on him for that and other reasons.

It depends on the keepers I have and how much Cap room I expect to keep for other players. Can't go wrong with Albert, but he did have elbow surgery this year and still has elbow issues (not fully repaired since doing so would cost him too much time, but he's comfy with it, so who cares). Only thing that makes Gonzo more attractive is the fact that he may go to the AL and that he costs a lot less. I'd personally be more comfortable signing Gonzo for 6 years at his age and salary than Albert at his.
My pick would have been Gonzo for those reasons. I do not believe he'll be a Padre by the end of the winter meetings since the Pads have other options at 1B and would love to land Buchholz and Westmoreland. (which is why I don't believe Doc goes to BOS, and lands in LA or NY instead).

Looking for another first round pick, PM if you are interested in getting rid of it Can't trade picks. What is the ruling on trades now? Are we not allowing any trades of just picks or are we not allowing any trades? If we are allowing trades that don't involve draft picks are we allowing trades of players on our roster from the initial filling from our namesake franchise and already made picks (Pujols, Gonzo, etc) as they are made? Just wondering. Not necessarily looking to trade but felt a clarification would be good to have here.

Tough call though...

not really a commentary on the draft but are we doing a snake style draft for both ML and MiLB? Not sure if this has been answered anywhere.

So, instead of who shot J.R.?...... Non-dynasty minds think who shot Albert? ;D Above me... That's what you call deep wit. I am not old enough to have watched the show "Dynasty" but the big main actor in this epic and long-running TV show in an episode was shot in the show and was not part of the show for I believe a season (maybe more?). The character's name was J.R. Then later on the actor returned to the show and they made the gun shot season(s) earlier a dream sequence of one of the characters and J.R. was back on the show! J.R. (main star of the show) = Pujols (main star in the majors, also referred to as The Show) Someone shot J.R. and he left the show and all fans of the show cried. Non-dynasty minds value Pujols more-so than dynasty minds do and if someone passes on the guy it is almost like he got shot it is so stunning! I know, a stretch.
